Meet Jonathan

Jonathan has been incarcerated for seven and a half years, but he stays closely connected with his daughter through visits and phone calls. “They mean everything,” he says. “Good communication, keeping the line open.”

When he first heard about the Father-Daughter Dance, Jonathan joked that he wanted his daughter to “put her dancer shoes on” so he could see if she could really dance. She’s on all the dance teams, and he’s looking forward to capturing that moment together, dressed up side by side.

Jonathan has never worn a suit before, and he’s excited for both himself and his daughter to see him in one for the first time. “It’s going to mean a lot,” he says. More than anything, he hopes the night shows her one thing: “Regardless of my situation, we can still make things happen, put a smile on each other’s face, and have fun.”
