The annual cost of music education at the high school level is approximately $3,500 per student, much of which is not paid for by the district (though this is not unique to Plainfield), a cost that is simply too high for parents to be able to afford annually. Instead, parents work hard volunteering thousands of hours of their time to fundraise for the benefit of music education. For generations, the PCHS Band Boosters has been working hard to keep the financial picture steady to purchase new instruments and provide sufficient instruction and equipment to the band, finally pushing out the last of the instruments that survived the 1990 Plainfield F-5 Tornado in 2023. Now, we have our sights set on LEVELING UP our marching band and we are in need of the public's help to push us there! $40,000 can provide the necessary funds for us to take our entire marching band to a national competition this fall so they can experience the next level of creativity and push them to an entire new level of musicianship.

Founded in 1951, The Plainfield Central High School Band Boosters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fundraising for the benefit of the Plainfield Central High School Band. The oldest high school in the third-largest school district in Illinois, Plainfield Central is located just outside of historic downtown Plainfield and is made up of students who fall into a wide spectrum of financial need, with nearly 38% of the student population being considered low-income. Band students are a highly diverse student body, coming from all ability levels academically, socially, and athletically.
