Sisters High School is buzzing with creativity as students from the music and art departments, in collaboration with the Outlaw Theatre Tech, AP Art, and Outlaw Theatre Co. unite for a once-every-two-years production: The Addams Family! This isn’t your average school play. Students are earning class credit while designing sets, building props, running the lighting and tech boards, performing in the orchestra, and bringing Broadway-level energy to every performance.

At the heart of the project is a powerful model of hands-on arts education. Under the guidance of four dedicated SHS teachers from the art, choir, and band departments, students are learning by doing, taking ownership of every aspect of the production process. From sketching set designs and painting backdrops to running microphones, controlling lighting, performing in the orchestra, and singing solos or ensemble numbers, this program transforms the theater into a living classroom. It’s a rare opportunity for students to apply technical, creative, and collaborative skills in a real-world setting, and see the impact of their work come to life in front of an audience.

This massive collaboration will culminate in four performances, November 6–9, and aims to “pack the house” in support of SHS’s thriving music and art programs.
