In January 2021, Our founder Jodi-Ann Williams was compelled to move from the Urban City of Newark, NJ to the Rural area of Salem County. This is a county she has never heard of prior to moving despite living in NJ for over 13 years. Upon her arrival, Jodi-Ann couldn’t help but noticing how impoverished and distressed some communities were. She was compelled to do something about the area she now lives in and began to research the history of Salem County. She later found that many of the communities she now see are rich in history and were once vibrant and thriving; however, due to population decline and lack of jobs they are now left in distressed conditions.

Determined to make a difference, Jodi-Ann sought ways to get involve in her community to meet the residents and learn of their various needs. She began volunteering for Meals on Wheels and joined the Human Service Advisory Council and the Salem County Continuum of Care meetings. In January, 2023, Jodi-Ann invited a few friends to participate in the Salem County Point in Time Count which is a community outreach to locate the number of homeless persons in the County. This outreach was life changing for Jodi and her friends as they witnessed the deplorable living conditions of some residents and learned about the various factors that cause persons to become homeless. It was then, Beautiful Vessels Housing & Family Development was birthed from the heart of God to spread his love to those in need while revitalizing the underserved communities.

We strive to share his values of love, compassion, and hope with those we serve. Our goal is to provide families with the tools and resources they need to create a better future for themselves, while strengthening their physical, mental, and spiritual health. We offer classes, housing, and other resources to help families in need, and we are committed to making a positive impact on our community.
