Ben's Bar Mitzvah Project!

Ben's Shelf-Stable Milk Drive

For his Bar Mitzvah project, Ben is collecting shelf-stable milk for patrons of Our Lady of Sorrows Food Pantry in South Orange, NJ, a member of the MEND network.

Shelf-stable (aseptic) milk is milk that does not need to be refrigerated and can be stored at room temperature. Shelf-stable milks can include dairy milk (milk from a cow) or milk made from nuts.

Help Ben collect boxes of these shelf-stable milks:

  • All types of dairy milk (from cows); whole, skim, 1% or 2%*
  • Almond milk
  • Oat milk

Please, no soy milk! Soy milk is not preferred or requested by the patrons of this food pantry. For those unable to participate in-person, you can make a donation to fund the purchase of more milk!

*Skim milk, 1% milk, 2% milk, and whole milk all contain 13 essential nutrients and roughly the same amount of calcium, protein, and carbs per serving. Where they differ is on fat content, with skim having the least amount and whole milk the most.

MEND's mission is to strengthen the health of our community by increasing access to fresh and healthy food. We envision a community in which everyone has access to nutritious food and the ability to achieve their optimal health.

In 2023, MEND member pantries & community partners provided food to over 40,000 people per month, 37% of whom were children.

Thank you for contributing to this effort!
