Help Us Bring Comfort & Support to Cancer Patients In Need
In February 2024, I was diagnosed with leukemia. What followed was an incredibly difficult journey that included multiple rounds of chemotherapy, total body radiation, a bone marrow transplant, and a long battle with GVHD.
During the months I spent in the hospital, I saw firsthand how overwhelming the cancer journey can be — and how often patients lack the kind of practical, emotional, and personal support that makes the hardest days a little more bearable.
Out of that experience, I founded the Better Every Day Foundation with a mission to provide meaningful encouragement, practical care, and human connection to cancer patients when they need it most.
Today, I’m incredibly grateful to share that our foundation has officially received 501(c)(3) nonprofit status from the IRS, allowing us to accept tax-deductible donations and expand the support we offer to cancer patients and their families.
What began as a personal mission during my own treatment is now growing into a movement dedicated to making sure no one faces cancer alone.
What We’re Doing Right Now
Our current focus is providing care packages for newly diagnosed blood cancer patients — thoughtfully designed by someone who has personally experienced treatment.
These packages include comfort items and encouragement such as:
• Oncology-safe ointments and chapsticks for chemo and radiation side effects
• Lemon drops to help with “chemo mouth”
• Fuzzy hospital socks for neuropathy and sensitivity
• Durable water bottles to encourage hydration
• Devotionals, Bibles, prayer books, and encouragement wristbands
• Handwritten cards to remind patients they are supported
Each package also includes a Connect Card, giving patients direct access to support where they can:
• Speak with cancer survivors
• Ask questions about their journey
• Request prayer or encouragement
• Schedule visits for meals and one-on-one support
We also visit local cancer units to deliver encouragement cards from students and celebrate transplant survivors with “Happy Re-Birthday” cards on the one-year anniversary of their bone marrow transplant.
Why Your Support Matters
Until now, most of this work has been personally funded. Now that the Better Every Day Foundation is officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’re ready to expand our reach and serve more patients.
Your donation will help us:
• Deliver more care packages to patients beginning treatment
• Expand hospital outreach visits
• Grow our survivor support network
• Develop future programs for patients and families
Cancer is one of the most isolating battles a person can face. Our mission is simple: make sure every patient knows they are seen, supported, and never alone.
Thank you for helping us bring encouragement, hope, and practical support to people in the fight of their lives.
With gratitude,
