“I’ve traveled around the state and country this summer seeing some great shows, but it is amazing to have such great music right in our backyard every Thursday night.” We’re known for the Music in the Mountains summer concert series, but that’s not all we do! This past year, our supporters helped us present more than 80 events for our constituents, from singer- songwriters to Shakespeare; classical music to country dancing; and films to artisan festivals.

“The colorful sculpture transformed the courtyard next to BASE - especially all lit up!” Also this year, we added two new sculptural installations to our growing collection of public art - both memorials gifted to us to steward on behalf of local families: “Sanctuary,” an expansive resting place in Firepit Park, and “Lightning,” a modern and inspiring piece in the courtyard behind BASE.

“I always forget how much art lowers my stress and makes me feel more peaceful.” Perhaps the highlight of the year was moving into our new home in the BASE community center and launching Big Sky’s first community art classroom and pottery studio. Since opening in April, the studio has hosted hundreds of hours of arts programming serving nearly 300 participants of all ages. And because of an innovative “Contribute-What-You-Can” pricing model, nearly 30% of them were able to participate in classes they might not have otherwise been able to afford.
