Hello! My name is Dalton Buhs. I am the Parent and Alumni Donor Relations Coordinator for Bike4Alz Team 13. I am from a small town in Southern Illinois called Bethalto, about 30 minutes away from St. Louis. I am an alumnus of Civic Memorial High School. I am in my second year at Western Kentucky University, studying electrical engineering.
I was instantly drawn to this organization when I first heard about Bike4Alz during fraternity rush. I naturally asked many questions about this organization to people who have gone through this journey in the past. I learned how much this trip will change you as a man and a leader, making me even more intrigued to go on this life-changing journey for a fantastic cause. I will be riding for everyone diagnosed with this terrible disease, and all the family members affected, especially my Great Grandma Maines, who has been diagnosed with dementia and recently moved into a memory care unit. Seeing how this has changed her as a person and the hardships it has brought onto my family really put into perspective how terrible Alzheimer's is. It is something that I want nobody or their families to experience, so sacrificing a summer to raise money for this cause feels like it is the least I can do. I am honored and humbled to be selected for Team 13 to contribute to the efforts to end Alzheimer's.
