Our Shabbat service will be lay-led, liturgically accessible (English and Hebrew provided), and woven together with Reform and Reconstructionist musical traditions. Like past events sponsored by the American Council on Judaism, our goal with this service is to be as inclusive and open as possible to anyone in New York seeking a Jewish community outside of traditional structures.

At this special Shabbat Chol Hamoed, falling in the interim between Passover and Sukkot, we will revel in the liminality of Pesach, decompress from our seders, and dive into the essential questions of what even is the Omer, and why is it magical? Our service will include musical instruments, and a small nosh will be provided afterwards.

This service is part of our unfolding project to build Jewish community beyond nationalism. Chavurat Binah is an unfolding, playful diasporic ritual community in Brooklyn, with prayers and people from all walks of Jewish experience. Through this post-nationalist project, we are aiming to create a space that is liturgically accessible, ritually expansive, and woven together with binah, with understanding.
