BOUTON'S MOUTH WAS SO PAINFUL SHE COULDN'T EAT

Little Bouton is a colony cat fed by devoted volunteers. When she suddenly stopped eating, her caregivers trapped her and reached out to Peninsula Catworks for financial help to get her veterinary care. It turned out she had a broken and infected canine tooth. We paid for her dental work, which included extracting the root of the bad tooth, other extractions, cleaning, etc. We all hoped she would feel much better and start eating again.

But she was still clearly in pain and barely eating, so back to the vet she went. We paid for lab tests to see if something else was causing her not to eat, but nothing showed up.

Drastic action was called for, so Bouton went to another vet clinic, a much more expensive one. They determined, after   x-rays and exam, that she needed to have 16 bad teeth extracted! That was all her teeth behind the big canines. The price seemed way too much to spend on one little cat when so many are in need of medical care. But she couldn't eat. How could we condemn her to death? We couldn't.

Please donate as much as you can to pay for Bouton's full mouth extractions. We will keep you updated here on how she does. Thank you so much for helping.

UPDATE:

Here she is  waking up from the lengthy surgery.

Almost $3,000 seems a crazy amount to spend on one cat. But she could not eat with all the pain she was in. The alternative would have been to put her to sleep. We felt they could not do that to a kitty who was otherwise healthy. She deserves to live!

UPDATE

Learning to trust her food again. It no longer bites and hurts! Tastes so good.

Thank you all for making this possible. Purrrr.

NEWEST UPDATE

GETTING SOME SUNSHINE

She is feeling so much better, she has started venturing outside.

Bouton has the best of both worlds now – free to be indoors in her foster home, free to go back to her nearby neighborhood colony, or just hang loose in foster mom’s yard – her choice.

We are still short of our funding goal, so please, please consider sharing this with your contacts and social media. Many thanks!
