Purpose of the SHE Thrives Retreats

The SHE Thrives Retreats are designed to empower Women Veterans by providing a safe and supportive environment where they can heal, grow, and connect with one another. These retreats focus on fostering emotional resilience, building community, and promoting holistic well-being among Women Veterans and their families. By addressing the unique challenges faced by Women Veterans, including mental health issues, feelings of isolation, and barriers to accessing support, the SHE Thrives Retreats aim to create a nurturing space for personal development and recovery.

Activities at the SHE Thrives Retreats

During the SHE Thrives Retreats, participants engage in a variety of activities that promote healing and connection:

Workshops: Led by trained staff and facilitators in trauma-informed care and behavioral activation counseling, these workshops cover essential topics such as emotional intelligence, stress management, and coping strategies. Licensed therapists are available on call to provide additional support and guidance. Participants learn valuable skills from our knowledgeable staff to navigate the challenges of post-military life.
Peer Support Groups: Women Veterans come together in small groups to share their experiences, build connections, and foster a sense of belonging. These peer-led sessions provide a safe space for participants to discuss their journeys and support one another.
Holistic Healing Activities: Retreats include activities such as yoga, meditation, art therapy, reiki, and sound and vibration therapy, which promote relaxation and self-expression. These practices help participants reconnect with their bodies and minds, fostering a sense of peace and well-being.
Family Bonding Experiences: Recognizing the importance of family dynamics, the SHE Thrives Retreats offer activities for children of Women Veterans. These programs focus on social-emotional learning and character development, strengthening parent-child relationships and promoting family resilience.
Nature Connection: Participants have the opportunity to engage with nature through outdoor activities, such as hiking and equine-assisted learning. These experiences encourage mindfulness and provide a refreshing break from daily stressors.
Resource Referrals: Throughout the retreat, participants receive information about additional resources and support services available to them, including mental health care, job placement assistance, and financial literacy training.
