If I didn’t play sports and create healthy habits as a child, I would not be here today to tell my story (Yup... you guessed it. Thats my baseball picture from way back when!)

My name is Jacob and I grew up playing sports and being exposed to physically challenging activities throughout my entire childhood, which led to my passion for health, wellness, and medicine. However, four short years ago my life changed forever. While riding my motorcycle, I was hit head-on by a distracted driver causing me to nearly lose my life.

I woke up in the hospital with tubes down my throat, brain bleeds, my jaw wired shut, several broken bones, and countless other injuries. The accident left me unable to walk, and I underwent many surgeries and tests.

Through all the uncertainty if I was ever going to walk again, the one constant I heard from the doctors and surgeons was that my health and wellness saved my life. If I had not spent my life taking care of my body through physical activity and mindfulness around the foods I ate, I would be dead, no question. As a dad of 3 beautiful children with another on the way, this was not an option!

This tragic accident is what spurred the creation of BlueLight Health, where we are in pursuit of helping save others through health and wellness. BlueLight Health was created under the premise that the habits we form in childhood stick with us into adulthood. Following this idea, the programs we offer are designed to educate, inspire, and empower our youth and the community to lead healthier lives!

This Giving Tuesday, I am extending the same privilege the BlueLight Health team experiences every day with the opportunity to provide children the tools to live healthier lives, which one day might save their lives. For $27.39, one child will receive these life-saving health and wellness tools, community, friendship, and more in 2023.
