Books for Keeps needs $50,000 to run our flagship program Stop Summer Slide!

Each year, Books for Keeps partners with all 14 public elementary schools in Clarke County School District to distribute 12 books to every student from kindergarten all the way to fifth grade. This year, that's an astonishing 70,000-plus books that we'll be distributing to over 5,500 kids to help ‘stop summer slide’!

We're in the thick of ordering and sorting books to prepare for this program. We could use your support to cross the finish line by Friday, March 14!

How will Books For Keeps use donations received?

Buy Books - $25 buys 12 books for a single child’s summer reading, and $600 buys books for an entire classroom! The more money we raise, the more flexibility we have on what books we can afford, and the more options we can give kids to choose from! See examples of the books we order here.
Cover Operating Costs - These costs include everything from renting trucks to deliver the books, paying rent for our BFK Warehouse, and supplies for packaging, labeling, and delivering the books. (If you've volunteered with us before, you know we need a whole lot of boxes!)
Staff - Our Book Access Team works year round to select and order the books, deliver them, and run the program. If you haven't already met them around town, get to know our awesome staff here!
Volunteer Support - This program is made possible by 300+ all-star volunteers who help us prepare at the warehouse and at school sites! We want to make sure we can provide snacks, water, and adequate support at every volunteer shift.
