Every empty bowl reminds us there is still work to be done.
The Statesboro Food Bank is in the final stages of their Capital Campaign for the new building, located at the corner of Miller Street and Northside Drive, West in Statesboro. Our warehouse is fully operational, but the rest of the building is yet to be completed.
Our recent focus had to be on serving those in crisis due to Debby and Helene. We have been busy! In the first quarter of our new fiscal year (July, August, September), we served as many meals as we’d served in the previous 12 months!
As the region continues to recover, we can re-focus on the completion of our new facility. Once complete, the Food Bank will be able to provide breakfast and lunches in our dining hall. Our classrooms will provide clients with opportunities to participate in workshops and classes on cooking, nutrition, and gardening/growing food. The edible gardens will provide fresh vegetables and herbs while serving as a demonstration garden.
YOU can help by choosing to invest in your regional Food Bank. Your gift supports productive workers, thriving senior citizens, curious and healthy children, and strong families — creating a thriving community.
Gifts can be given over a three year period if preferred.
Thank you!
