Meet Wende Holzschuh, Realtor. I have had the opportunity to serve as a Box Dweller and Mentor at HOPE Calloway. However, my greatest experience was meeting a person dealing with homelessness, right here in Murray. As I prayed for an opportunity to serve, I met a man walking on S 12th Street, heading to the city park, to find shelter and a place to sleep for the night. I stopped and offered him a ride, and heard his story of how he became homeless. Hearing that he had been shot and his girlfriend had been fatally shot in Paducah, left him nearly crippled and frightened for his life- with no family to depend on.

I started the application for housing assistance and quickly got him to HOPE Calloway where he could the the help and services he needed. I'm thankful to have met my new friend and so grateful for the support that HOPE Calloway provides.

I'm happy to say that my new friend has now been living in his own home for just over a year!
