On June 4th, hundreds of cyclists will begin their weeklong, 399 mile journey across the great state of Nebraska! One of these cyclists is Carmen Hinman, the Executive Director of Hope Crisis Center.

Hope Crisis Center provides confidential emergency services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout Gage, Jefferson, Saline, York, Seward, Thayer, and Fillmore Counties. Carmen has been at the helm since the 90s, leading Hope Crisis Center with a big heart and a passion for service.

Riding from Benkelman to Ashland over the course of seven days, her goal is to spread awareness about the epidemic of domestic violence. We're calling her ride-with-cause "Breaking the Cycle."

Carmen will be joined by her brother, Dave, who came up with the idea of riding for survivors and inspired Carmen to buy her first road bike. Back in April, Dave got in a serious cycling accident that left him in the hospital with several broken bones. Despite these immense challenges, he is determined to ride! Let's cheer him on!

During Breaking the Cycle, we also aim to raise $5,000 for direct services by asking supporters to sponsor miles of Carmen and Dave's adventure! Between inflation, scary budget cuts, and longer than usual shelter stays, it's a challenging time for small non-profits like Hope Crisis Center. This makes constant fundraising an essential part of our work to ensure that shelter and services are ALWAYS available in our communities.
