We are accepting donations for the entire month of August to increase the lactation resources we can provide to our communities including:
Black Breastfeeding Week specificaly exists to highlight breastfeeding in the Black community. Breastfeeding is proven to provide multiple benefits for babies and the breastfeeding person. When given equal access to education, resources, and support, we believe that anyone can have a successful breastfeeding journey, whatever that journey looks like for them.
Birth in Color RVA trains doulas of color to support people of color during pregnancy, birth, and in the postpartum period. Our doulas are also trained in breastfeeding education and some are certified breastfeeding consultants and lactation consultants. Donations made to honor Black Breastfeeding Week will help support Birth in Color RVA as we train more doulas of color across the state of Virginia, provide breastfeeding resources and education to the community, provide supplies for breastfeeding support groups and clinics, and supply baby items to families in need through our Community Baby Showers.
