Brett's Medical Fundraiser
Most of you already know the popstar of Sage Mountain, Brett the turkey. For those who don't, this is Brett!
Brett was abandoned in a canyon near a shooting range, then was fortunately rescued by a kind individual who spotted him knowing he couldn't survive on his own in the wild. That's when they got in contact with one of our friends who got Brett to us. Getting to know him since then has been amazing and he has quite the personality.
He's usually wandering around the sanctuary, following Noelle the turkey hen and protecting her, singing to some music and talking with our volunteers and visitors. Yesterday he did none of that. He laid outside relaxing all day, only singing a little bit and not even exploring or doing any protecting, so we knew something was off. Then when he got up to walk we saw that his right foot was extremely swollen and causing him a lot of pain. He was stumbling and having a hard time putting any weight on that foot. He had limped a little bit a few days prior to this, but we examined him without finding any obvious reasons or even much swelling. His foot looked a little irritated but we weren't sure if it was actually something going on right away because he seemed normal after, so we were keeping a close eye on him.
He's at the vet right now to get evaluated and figure out what's going on to start a treatment plan. We hate to see our sweet boy hurting and are doing everything we can to figure out what's going on with him to help him start feeling better. So far, his vet bills and medications are close to $300. While we try to plan for everything, we can't always plan for medical emergencies. If you'd like to help us support Brett and his recovery, all donations go straight to his medical bills, medications and everything he needs to get back to full health.
Thank you so much for your support! Please email us at info@sagemtn.org if you have any questions about Brett or his fundraiser.
