We are an advocacy group in Dallas, Texas composed of people who care about making our city a better place to live, work, and play for everybody. Our group aligns with the New Urbanism movement, and we are an instance of what Strong Towns calls a "Local Conversation", whose purpose is to connect nearby, like-minded advocates to put Strong Towns ideas into action where we live.

DALLAS NEEDS OUR MOVEMENT, AND WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN RISE TO THE CHALLENGE.

In 2026, DART faces an existential crisis, City Hall is drafting a new zoning code, major employers are leaving downtown, public hearings will be held for projects in the master bike plan, and a new study found that affordable housing in Dallas is becoming more scarce for renters who make less than $30k a year. Everything we’ve achieved so far is thanks to grassroots volunteers. Our movement is real and grows every day, and now we need funding to sustain our momentum, expand our reach, and maximize our impact.

Our goal is to raise $11,600 in monthly donations to fund:

FULL-TIME STAFF to produce daily educational content and support a growing citywide membership; and
STUDIO OFFICE that serves as a creative hub, workspace, and event venue for trainings, workshops, and collaboration with partner organizations.
ONGOING EXPENSES such as insurance, supplies, production equipment, software licenses, and other needs to keep our movement continuously educated, engaged, and active.

INTRODUCING: 600 BRICKS! 🧱

Reaching our goal of $11,600 recurring donations is a tall order: approximately 600 people donating on average $20/month. For a lot of people, that amount represents serious trust and hope in our mission to make Dallas a more walkable city. We don't take your trust for granted! So over the next several weeks, we'll be announcing exclusive incentives and perks for our patrons to value and enjoy.

Our first incentive? Bricks!

Here's how it works

The idea is simple: make a recurring donation of either $20/month or $200/year, and we'll have a brick named in your honor! Your brick will be labeled with your name, or an alias or custom message of your choosing. We're only selling 600 bricks because that's the exact amount we need to sell, and we wouldn't know what to do with any more bricks than that, so donate now to secure your permanent physical place in Dallas Urbanists history!

As I write this message, we don't have our studio office yet. But when we do (thanks to successful campaign selling all 600 bricks), we'll pave a donor wall with all the purchased donor bricks. Your brick will have a permanent place in our office, and serve as:

a daily reminder to our staff about who we're organizing for;
your ticket to visit us at our office and show-off evidence of your founding role in our movement;
appear in our videos and photoshoots;
serve as part of our brand and storytelling; and
be seen by partners and news media who visit our office.

Wait, so is it a literal brick?

Yes and no. For this campaign, we're selling thin brick veneers. So not full-size structural bricks you're used to seeing at construction sites, but thin slices of "brick" mounted on a wall to aesthetically resemble a true brick wall. We're selling two types of thin brick veneers:

REAL BRICK: These are thin slices from a real stone brick. These bricks are gauranteed to have a prominent place in our office. There are two ways to get this brick:

Donate at least $40/month; or
Be one of our first 100 donors. Donate now to lock in a real brick at the lower $20 rate!

FAUX BRICK: These are even thinner slices of rubber/foam that has a raised texture to look and feel like brick. When we open our office, we'll display these bricks somewhere, though not as prominently as the real brick veneers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

"What if I want to support the campaign anonymously?" When you donate to this campaign, you can choose to keep your brick as a souvenir. If you choose this option, we will still make and hold onto your brick, but we'll arrange a way for you to pick it up at an event or at our future office; the brick will never be shown. Alternately, you can specify an alias to write on the brick, or opt to not receive a brick at all if bricks just aren't your vibe.

"What can I have written on my brick?" Pretty much anything you want as long as it meets the criteria below. We'll review every brick message before crafting the brick, and send you a digital proof before finalizing the design.

Doesn't contain profane, offensive, or political language
Doesn't impersonate another person. You can provide a fake name, but if you provide a name of a celebrity, politician, or anyone with a Wikipedia page, then we'll need to confirm whether you're that person.

"Can I sponsor multiple bricks?" Yes! Sponsor additional bricks by donating additional increments of $20/month (or $40/month if you're not one of the first 100 and you want a real brick instead of a faux brick).
