Bruno's Injury -- Can You Help Us Pay the Vet Bills?
Oh Bruno, honey. 🥺
Late Thursday, Bruno’s devoted foster mom discovered he had somehow severely cut his front paw, possibly on a sharp metal soda can. Despite applying steady pressure, the bleeding would not stop. Since it was after normal vet hours, she rushed him to one of our emergency vets, where he received immediate and excellent care.
Bruno had a severe laceration that required surgical repair, including reattaching a small tendon and carefully closing the deep tissue wound. He had to go under anesthesia for the procedure and will be on medications for the next 10 days as he heals.
Emergency care is lifesaving… but it comes at a cost. Bruno’s visit totaled just over $2,000, covering the exam, bloodwork, anesthesia, surgery, and medications.

The vet and staff said that he was a very Good Boy.
Yes, we know. 😊❤️
The good news is that Bruno is expected to recover fully, and is still ready to find his furever home once he heals.
If you are able to help us with Bruno's unexpected vet bill or share his story, we would be so grateful! Your support is what makes it possible for us to say “yes” when dogs like Bruno need us most. 🫶
About Underhound Railroad
Underhound Railroad was formed in 2009 and over the years has helped hundreds of dogs find safe and loving forever homes.
With our focus on rural areas in North and South Carolina, where shelters are overflowing with abandoned dogs waiting to find rescue, our network of Underhound volunteers work hard to prevent undeserved deaths, see that medical, emotional, and behavioral needs are tended to, and provide transportation as well as a loving foster family to the pups on their journey to finding their forever homes! Many of our dogs find their home in Maine, where we have a network of volunteers, foster and adoptive homes just waiting to welcome these pups with open arms.
