I'm excited to announce I'll be running the 2022 Chicago Marathon in honor of my grandmother Marliee Stepan Wehman! With the support of the Big Shoulders Fund, all fundraising dollars will be going directly to Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
My grandmother Marliee was the Founding Trustee of the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Pilsen-Little Village Chicago, which now comprises a network of 38 schools across the country serving over 12,300 students of limited academic means.
Cristo Rey provides a Catholic, college preparatory education and professional work experience to students from Spanish speaking families with limited financial means. Through its Corporate Work Study Program, faith-based college preparatory education, and Spanish heritage language curriculum, the goal is to prepare students to succeed in college and to assume leadership roles in the civic, religious, business and cultural life of our city and nation.
Despite an extensive list of accomplishments, including a bronze medal in the 1952 Helsinki, Finland Olympic games- she was most proud of her incredible work at Cristo Rey.
I could not think of a more appropriate way to honor my grandmother, please consider donating to Cristo Rey Jesuit High School!
