Hello! I'm Sophie, and I come from a family of educators with deep roots in Chicago.
My mother was a 2nd grade public school teacher in LA for nearly 20 years and participated in Teach for America in its second year, transforming educational opportunities in Pasadena, CA. Both of my grandmothers were teachers who grew up in Chicago, so I was raised with a deep appreciation for public school education and the profound impact a great teacher can have on a student's life.
I'm incredibly inspired by Big Shoulders Fund’s mission to elevate educational opportunities for traditionally disenfranchised students in Chicago. This will be my second marathon, and I’m excited to run for the Big Shoulders Fund as part of my running journey.
