BUMP Birthright Travel Fund

BUMP is partnering with Birthright AFRICA to send 10 youth from from the triangle on a life-changing cultural journey to Ghana in summer 2026.

Birthright AFRICA provides free educational experiences that begin with exploration of Black and African culture and innovation in the United States and culminate in immersive travel to an African nation—building pride, confidence, and lifelong connection to heritage. This year we will travel to Ghana!

Together, BUMP and Birthright AFRICA are opening global doors for Durham youth and investing in the next generation of cultural leaders.

This is more than a trip. It is a transformational investment.

Youth participants will:

• Deepen pride in their African heritage

• Build global perspective and leadership skills

• Connect culture, history, and innovation across the African diaspora

• Return as cultural ambassadors, sharing their journey through performances, schools, and community spaces

  Birthright AFRICA is a collaborative ecosystem transforming the lives of youth and young adults of African descent; building pride, confidence, and a lasting connection to African legacy and its innovative future.

  Together, BUMP and Birthright AFRICA ensure Durham youth have access to world-class cultural experiences rooted in identity, excellence, and possibility.
