Alzheimer’s disease kills more than breast and prostate cancers combined. Take a minute and let that sink in. If you, or your loved ones, never had to deal with this 6th leading cause of death, I would thank the universe for the lucky cards it dealt.
Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of aging. It’s a progressive disease, where dementia symptoms worsen over a number of years (even months for people with existing mental challenges). It slowly destroys memory and cognitive skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. The caring and loving personalities of Meemaw or Pawpaw you once knew, fade away into the past. Diagnosis has a ripple effect that impacts the entire family.
I am back for another year to raise awareness and funds for our local beneficiaries in Dallas who conduct the research to find treatment and cure for Alzheimer’s disease. I have set another ambitious goal, so please consider donating. Every dollar goes a long way.
