Bwindi Conservation for Generations Foundation is an organization based in the Southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is home to almost half of the remaining mountain gorillas; of which the population is gradually increasing again.

Our core mission is to integrate Conservation with social enterprises to promote community development balanced with protection of our the mountain gorillas and biodiversity.

We engage in many activities, such as:

the Global March for Elephants, Rhinos and Mountain Gorillas which attracted a thousands of people
the elephants and gorilla ambassador program which we do in do in partnership with schools, community and Uganda wildlife authority,
Bwindi clean up campaign
Gorilla gardening project in three schools with three women group
Bwindi Microcredit project, which provides financial support to women
We finished construction of a Bwindi development center with a community library stocked with books, a workshop, tailoring room, craftshop and tailoring room to support skill-training of the community and sales of their products
Sponsorship program where we have 3 students in secondary school and 20 children in primary school.

Currently, we are raising funds for these 2 projects:

1. Biogas toilet

This toilet will be built at our center to help the women who are learning skills, children and community who will be using the community library, and tourists who visit the center. We are planning building a 12 cubic biogas structure with 3 stance and one urinal place. This will also help to give biogas to use for cooking and lighting, provide bio ceraly to use as fertilizer by the community. The estimated cost is approximately USD 3,500).

2. Hospitality and tourism training center/meeting center/Bwindi coffee shop.
This project is the construction of a house that will have a restaurant and café, and will also be used to train community members about hospitality, and running a restaurant and coffee shop to serve tourists and local people.
