Understanding the Illegal Trade: Demand for rhino horn originates primarily in parts of Asia, where it's mistakenly believed to have medicinal properties. Scientifically, rhino horn is simply keratin—the same protein as human fingernails—with no medicinal value. Despite this, it's marketed as a remedy and status symbol. While international law prohibits the trade, black market sales persist.

The Urgent Need for Action: A rhino is killed approximately every ten hours in Africa or Asia. In South Africa, home to the world's largest rhino population, one falls to poachers roughly every 15 hours. Without sustained conservation efforts—anti-poaching initiatives, habitat protection, and demand reduction—rhinos face extinction. Every contribution helps give these magnificent animals a fighting chance for survival.
