This year we have two amazing Destination Imagination teams from Mid-Columbia Partnership that have qualified to attend the global finals in Kansas City. FUEGO DONUTS (ELEMENTARY SCHOOL)

Hello Friends!

We are Team Fuego Donuts, a group of amazing misfits! Our team combines kids from all walks of life, from kids on the spectrum to various other learning disabilities. We even have a student who only speaks Spanish! We came together as a team and learned from each other through hard work, determination and a passion to learn and have fun! That hard work paid off and we achieved 1st place in both our Regional and State competitions. We also received special recognition at both competitions. We received 2 DaVinci awards (The DaVinci award honors those individuals and teams who most clearly demonstrate that spirit of adventurous risk in their solutions – those who most creatively traveled to reach truly new and unique destinations), and a Renaissance Award! (The Renaissance Award recognizes those among us who demonstrate extraordinary amounts of effort and preparation in their solutions or outstanding skill in engineering, design or performance.

We have qualified for the Destination Imagination Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri! Destination Imagination is a program that challenges students to use their creativity and teamwork skills to solve problems. We have been working and reworking our solution for months and can't wait to present our solution on the Global Stage!

Here was our challenge!

The Technical Challenge prompts students to complete tasks by using engineering, research, strategic planning, and related skills.

Design and create a puzzle that will be assembled during the Presentation.
Design and build 2 puzzle solvers that use technical methods to assemble the puzzle.
Create and present a story about how a character’s understanding changes at a pivotal moment.
Create and present two Team Choice Elements that show off the team’s interests, skills, areas of strength, and talents.

Our solution takes place in London 2.0. It sets a scene for a fire at a local bakery called "The Puckish Pastry". We dsigned and built a parking garage complete with functioning lights and even a valet. We assemble our puzzle by moving cars to allow the firetruck to move through and put out the fire. We worked hard to add lots of technical parts to the solution. We put together a hilarious skit to go along with their solution. We enjoy the laughter from the audience every time we perform. Its our dream to go to Globals to show our skills and compete with other teams from around the world. But, we need your help to make our dream come true.

The cost of traveling to Kansas City and participating in the Global Finals is $8000 for our team. This covers the registration fees, transportation, accommodation, food and other expenses. We have lots of different ways for you to get involved. Check out our auction link at the top of the page to see the different ways you can contribute. You can also help by donating to our campaign. Any amount you can give will make a huge difference for us. We are so grateful for your generosity and support. HIGH STAKES BBQ (MIDDLE SCHOOL)

The middle school team faced many challenges this year, after 4 team members had to leave the team. They had to completely start the project over but persevered and were able to pull together their presentation in approximately 6 weeks. They took 3rd place at state and were invited to attend the global finals in Kansas City.
