Kelly Morrissette's Story
For two long years, our vibrant and lively son Asher battled an unrelenting fever of unknown origin. Day and night, his temperature ranged from 102 to a staggering 106.7 degrees. It was a constant, heart-wrenching struggle, made even more difficult by the isolation and fear brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this time, Asher's condition led to multiple trips to the emergency room due to dangerous fever spikes. Our initial hope was placed in the renowned Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Tennessee. Despite undergoing numerous tests and treatments, the cause of Asher's persistent fever remained a mystery.
In a desperate bid for answers and relief, we made the tough decision to move back to our home in California. At CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County), Asher underwent more tests. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we discovered the root of his suffering: severe environmental allergies. The primary culprits were grasses and trees abundant in Tennessee but less prevalent in California.
With this knowledge, Asher began a targeted treatment plan. Slowly but surely, his fever began to subside. After a few months of consistent care, his temperature returned to normal. Today, Asher is not just fever-free but also a picture of health and happiness, thriving in ways we once could only dream of.
We are sharing Asher's journey to highlight the importance of medical research, access to specialized care, and the resilience of a loving family. Your support of The MaxLove Project can make a difference for other children facing similar medical mysteries and severe illnesses. Together, we can ensure they receive the treatment and care they need to find their path to health and happiness, just like Asher did.
Thank you for your generosity and compassion. Your contribution brings hope and healing to children and families in need.
