6 years ago, on July 24, 2018, standing in my kitchen, I heard the words: "There was a finding on the MRI." And then our world turned dark.
Our 5-year-old son Ori, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. What followed were surgeries, feeding tubes, blood draws, speech therapy, occupational therapy, constant MRI's and years of chemotherapy infusions. During the first year after Ori's diagnosis, a friend introduced me to Audra and Justin Wilford, of MaxLove Project.
From the darkest moments of our lives, MaxLove Project brought their light, held us, and helped my family go from merely surviving each day, to thriving each day. This is our story.
MaxLove Project Mission: We work to increase the quality of life and reduce health risks for families surviving childhood cancer, related pediatric rare diseases, and chronic hospitalizations. We support families with evidence-based integrative healthcare with a focus on culinary medicine, dietitian support, whole-body wellness, therapist-led emotional health support in 1:1 and group settings, therapeutic social support, and expert-designed educational resources. Our programs are available nationwide online through our private app platform and also in-person at office locations in California & Georgia.
Upon diagnosis, a medical treatment protocol is not enough. The support and resources that MaxLove Project provides, need to become STANDARD OF CARE in our medical system, so that patients and their families can beat the odds and thrive in life.
