Water is a human right, and for the last seven years, it has been my mission to bring awareness, empowerment, and community strength to the places most impacted by water injustice. My journey began with a parasite that led to a four year path of gut healing. That experience opened my eyes to the true cost of contaminated water. I lived with daily fatigue, brain fog that made it hard to function, constant nutrient deficiencies, and the stress of endless food sensitivities. And I had access to doctors, supplements, and support. Imagine families without any of those resources, families who face these symptoms every single day because their only water source is unsafe.
When I moved to Guatemala, it became not only my home, but the place where I transformed my pain into service. Lake Atitlán, a watershed home to over 400,000 people, most of them Indigenous, and 70% living below the poverty line, is one of the most contaminated lakes in Central America. The communities around the lake face daily challenges that no one should have to endure: unsafe water, preventable illness, and environmental degradation.
Water 4 Life was created to stand with these communities. Our work centers around Indigenous women’s leadership and community collaboration to promote health, environmental protection, and clean water access. Through water filtration, education, natural sanitation, and greywater treatment systems, we are rewriting a story of resilience and wellbeing.
This Giving Tuesday, your support does more than provide clean water. You empower Indigenous leaders protecting this sacred resource. You help over 1,000 families each year break the cycle of contaminated water and chronic illness.
This is more than a filter, a soap, or a system, it is generational change. It is children who can grow up without preventable disease and families that can have one less worry.
Thank you for being part of the ripple and standing for a clean water in Lake Atitlán.
