The Strong Smart & Bold Gala is our largest fundraiser and helps to support the year-round programs that we offer to over 500 girls a year - all free of charge to girls and their families.

When Maya first came to Girls Inc. of Westchester County, she was quiet and unsure of herself. As a first-generation college hopeful, she had big dreams but no clear path forward.

Through Girls Inc., Maya gained more than academic support. She learned to set goals, speak up, and recognize her own potential. With encouragement from facilitators and peers, she began taking on leadership roles and exploring futures she once thought were out of reach.

Today, Maya is preparing to apply to college with confidence and a strong sense of direction. Her story is one of many that shows how Girls Inc. helps girls become strong, smart, and bold—no matter where they start.

INSPIRING ALL GIRLS TO BE STRONG, SMART, AND BOLD

Girls Incorporated of Westchester County (GIWC) is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated, a nearly 161 year old national nonprofit whose network of local Girls Inc. nonprofit organizations serve girls ages 9-18 at more than 1,400 sites in 350 cities across the United States and Canada.

GIWC is a full-year empowerment and leadership development organization dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of girls. We seek to inspire all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold! GIWC was established in 2007 and delivers girls-only programming in a safe and nurturing environment through our in-school and after-school program partners, in community centers and youth bureaus throughout Westchester County, and virtually through our wide-ranging online program options. Our evidence-based programming is delivered by trained professional Program Facilitators who focus on the development of the whole girl, supporting, mentoring, and guiding girls in an affirming, pro-girl environment. Here, girls learn to value their whole selves, discover and develop their inherent strengths, and receive the support they need to navigate the challenges they face.

Through our programs, girls learn to value themselves, take risks, and discover and develop their inherent strengths. The combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and research-based programming equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers, and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. Girls Inc. girls live healthy and active lifestyles and are less likely to engage in risky behavior; they are eager to learn, successful in school, and more likely to graduate from post-secondary education; and they display diligence, perseverance, and resilience. Our programs build confidence, self-esteem, help girls avoid risky behavior, and helps girls see and realize the possibilities that are open to them for their future.
