Most of us in the LGBTQIA+ community have a story that involves the need to feel accepted, seen, heard, and loved. This includes the need to have role models who are open, proud, and successful in their careers. I joined the Board of Directors for Out for Education (OFE) because I want to help rewrite that narrative for our youth. My own coming out journey wasn’t linear—I hid parts of myself, heard hurtful comments, even from those close to me, and felt the weight of trying to fit in. I wish I had an organization like OFE back then to tell me that I belonged, that I mattered.
OFE has already helped over 400 individuals, awarding over $2 million in scholarships since 1999. We make the future a little more affordable for LGBTQIA+ youth, giving them the support and validation they deserve.
This Giving Tuesday (December 3rd), we have a unique opportunity to make a difference.
By participating in our virtual silent auction, you can directly contribute to a student’s journey to college or trade school. Imagine the joy and relief on a young person’s face when they receive the news that their dreams are within reach because of your generosity. Every bid you place is a step toward a brighter future, helping LGBTQIA+ youth feel seen, accepted, and empowered to succeed. Let’s come together this Giving Tuesday to create a world where every LGBTQIA+ youth knows they are valued. Your support truly can change lives.
