I grew up in McAllen, Texas, a place with limited support for the arts and even fewer opportunities to explore them. My sanctuary was a small community theatre, housed in a converted water tower reservoir about 20 miles away. It was there, amidst the props and costumes, that I found a home away from home—a place where bonds were formed and where every participant, young and old, did a bit of everything.
When I turned 18, I moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, and soon I was working in stage management for a local professional musical theatre company. I'll never forget the end of our first production at the Paramount Theatre: as the audience rose in thunderous applause, I peeked through the curtains, tears streaming down my face, overwhelmed by the magic we had created together. In that moment, I felt the profound impact of theatre, a force so powerful it could change lives within the span of a single performance.
At my core, I am an educator, driven by a passion to fuse the artistry of professional theatre with the community spirit of those summer days in my youth. This vision is what led me to help cultivate Summer Stock Austin at Impact Arts. Here, we are committed to offering high-quality, tuition-free education in musical theatre to students each summer. We provide a platform where young talents can thrive, learn, and grow—without financial barriers.
Summer Stock Austin is a place where dreams are nurtured, where the next generation of artists find their voice, and where the magic of musical theatre continues to transform lives. But we can't do this alone. We rely on the generous support of donors like you, who understand the value of the arts in shaping vibrant, resilient communities.
Please consider supporting Summer Stock Austin. Your contribution will ensure that this program continues to be a beacon of opportunity for young artists, offering them the tools, training, and stage to change their lives and enrich our world.
