June 19th/Juneteenth commemorates the end of chattel slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, enslaved Black people in Galveston Bay, Texas were notified of their freedom a full two-and-half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Black folks have been celebrating the day long before it became a federally recognized holiday in 2021, and despite our continued struggle for liberation today.

This Juneteenth make a commitment to Soul 2 Soul Sisters’ love-based revolution centering Black liberation as a response to anti-Black violence through eradicating white supremacy, actualizing reparations as healing & economic justice, building Black political power, and advocating for Black beloveds’ right to make decisions about our lives, bodies, and futures.

Our struggle for liberation is global and will require multi-faceted approaches, from the individual to the institution. Starting Wednesday, May 1st through Wednesday, June 19th (Juneteenth), Soul 2 Soul Sisters is hosting Juneteenth Jubilee to raise funds for our mutual aid efforts.
