I graduated California State University of Long Beach earning a BA in Psychology and Philosophy. I began working in Foster Care and immediately became disenchanted with the system, propelling me into Real Estate for about 10 yrs in the early 2002's. After the great recession, I lost everything including relationships, so I invested in my community eventually becoming a tenant organizer and advocate for affordable housing
Upon losing everything, I realized what was truly important in my life, so I started searching within, embarking on my own personal journey and exploration to heal from my trauma through the various modalities of healing that exist.
While in community, advocating for others, I witnessed burnout, stress, and conflict in the advocates, community members we served. I saw the harm we were still causing one another in the name of justice, as well as the harm brought on by the nonprofit structures we created to drive this change. It didn't make any sense to me that we were going about it this way so I decided to co-develop "The People's Resource Center", which has since tranformed into the “Healing and Justice Center”.
HJC is a worker self-directed nonprofit organization merging healing and resiliency practices with organizing and advocacy. HJC helped co-found "The San Gabriel Valley Tenant Alliance" a volunteer led group of tenants that help foster and build tenant unions and associations throughout the valley. I started to practice real estate again to help find creative ways to get people into ownership and secure their housing, and to create more affordable housing.
I have found where I belong and continue to build from this point forward!
