We need to raise $250,000 this year to unlock daily access to nature and nature’s benefits for 3,000+ Kenyan students and 200+ teachers in 2026 while sowing seeds to reach 75,000 Kenyan students and 2,250 teachers by 2030. We're asking you -- our community -- to donate $40,000 by December 31st to sponsor the first 4 schools in our Outdoor Learning Collaborations and to support the core systems that make all of this possible.

What will we do with your money?

We aim to implement Outdoor Learning Collaborations with as many schools as we can, with a goal to reach 12 Kenyan schools in 2026, and your support will help us get there. Funds will also help us strengthen the core capacity needed to make these collaborations successful, both in Kenya and across our broader mission. As a nonprofit working both locally in Kenya and globally, we allocate a portion of gifts to our greatest needs and organizational capacity so that our work -- and impact -- can succeed and scale sustainably.

$10,000 = the full cost of implementing one Outdoor Learning Collaboration. $40,000 = 4 schools…$120,000 = All 12, if we reach our full budget and implementation capacity.

Our next school? Destiny Junior Education Centre

Immediate Reach: 487 students and 19 teachers

Founded in 2012 by teacher Judith Odero and coach Austin Ajowi, Destiny Junior Education Centre is located in Nairobi’s Mathare slum.

Destiny believes where you come from should never limit who you become.

Why does this matter?

There is a growing mountain of evidence demonstrating a causal relationship between nature experiences and improved mental and physical health, social-emotional wellbeing, academic achievement, and environmental stewardship.

How do we know it works?

We’ve successfully piloted our Outdoor Learning Collaborations with SHOFCO’s Girls’ Leadership Academies—and the results are remarkable: 100% of teachers report increased motivation from teaching outdoors, 97% feel less stressed outdoors, and 98.5% say their students are more engaged outdoors.

How will we do it?

Together with an inspiring team of partners, we’re growing a world where students and educators can access nature’s benefits and connect with the Earth—just by going to school.

Wrapping around educators and students in schools, our Outdoor Learning Collaborations—and the core organizational systems that sustain them—bring together Good Natured Learning, Harvesting for Good East Africa, Buildher, Thomas Bef Studio, Mr. Dudu, generous donors, and local families and individuals who want to get involved, to co-create outdoor learning spaces (classrooms and gardens), build supportive systems, and grow the skills of educators.
