Jennifer's Harbor: Our Story

Our founder had experienced sexual abuse throughout her childhood, leaving wounds that impacted her for years. Through the strength of her faith, and God's guidance through her hardships, she was able to heal. Early in her healing journey, she knew God would use her pain to help others. This is where the idea of Jennifer's Harbor was born.

Intially under another ministry, Jennifer's Harbor began impacting women in our community. Through group support and one-on-one life coaching, women were able to begin seeing how loved they were, and the amazing plans God had in store for them. From here, Jennifer's Harbor continued to grow.

Fast forward to now, Jennifer's Harbor has become a team of survivors and advocates committed to changing the lives of survivors, leading them to a life of feeling heard, loved and healed. We offer one-on-one life coaching, a family program, "The Cove," where mothers and children come together for a meal and personalized support for wherever they are in their healing journey, an annual Girlfriend Getaway Retreat, a group support program, "Life After the Storm," for survivors to come together to process the emotional wounds that remain after abuse, Church Education Programs and many community events throughout the year.

Abie's Haven: Fort Wayne's First Short-Term Crisis Home for Abuse Survivors

Abie's Haven has been moved to the forefront of the Jennifer's Harbor mission. After helping women on their healing journey over the last few years, we have recognized a gap in our community. Too often, survivors of abuse are struggling to find a safe space to land, a place that feels like "home," until they embark on their next chapter. Moving from place to place, shelter to shelter, draining all resources to merely just survive. We are working to fill that gap.

Abie's Haven is more than just shelter. This home will provide a familial atmosphere, becoming their santuary to begin healing. With 24/7 availability and access to care, individualized life coaching and counseling, group support, holistic-driven case management and staff dedicated to helping survivors, around-the-clock security and an undisclosed location, rooms available for individuals and families, and adovcacy and support for court hearings, women and children will be able to rest in knowing they are fully safe and supported in the midst of their crisis. The resources and stay at Abie's Haven are completely free to survivors.

Who is Abie?

A brave young woman with a story worth sharing. Abie was the first girl we rescued. After enduring significant abuse and being led to a life of trafficking, the staff at Jennifer's Harbor was able to locate and rescue Abie from her abusers. With no safe place to land, Abie and her family moved from place to place, hoping to keep her from being found. Living in fear, she found herself living a life of running. Abie was able to be relocated outside of the country to receive care, and began her healing journey.

Naming our crisis home after Abie symbolizes our dedication to helping survivors find their safe space to land on their journey. Abie chose the name "Abie's Haven," to express her faith and gratitude.
