A Queer Retreat for Intimacy, Embodiment, and Authentic Connection

Fruits of Freedom is an immersive retreat designed for queer adults seeking deeper connection with themselves, their bodies, and one another outside the expectations of heteronormative culture.

Set on a private Caribbean island just off the coast of Cartagena, this experience brings together a community of facilitators, mental health professionals, and embodiment practitioners to explore themes of intimacy, grief, identity, and authentic expression in a supportive and grounded environment.

This is not a performance of spirituality or a space that asks you to become someone new. Instead, Fruits of Freedom invites you to arrive as you are and engage in honest exploration alongside others who are doing the same.

The Setting

Participants will fly into Cartagena, Colombia, where they will be met at the airport and transported to the marina. From there, a private boat will ferry the group across the bay to Tierra Bomba Island.

The retreat takes place at a secluded beachfront property surrounded by tropical coastline, open sky, and warm Caribbean waters.

This environment provides both beauty and spaciousness—an ideal backdrop for reflection, connection, and rest.

What the Week Looks Like

Fruits of Freedom is intentionally structured to balance depth, exploration, and relaxation.

Rather than filling every hour with programming, the retreat moves through a rhythm designed to support both personal insight and nervous system regulation.

Each day follows a gentle but consistent flow.

Morning begins with optional yoga for those who wish to wake the body and ground themselves before breakfast. After breakfast, participants gather in small groups for daily check-ins with a facilitator. These groups remain consistent throughout the retreat and create a supportive space for reflection, integration, and connection.

With roughly ten participants per group, these circles allow everyone to feel seen and supported while processing the experiences that arise during the week.

Some days are devoted to workshops and guided experiences exploring embodiment, emotional processing, identity, and relational dynamics. Other days include cultural excursions designed to connect participants with the local environment and traditions of Colombia.

These excursions allow guests to experience the beauty and culture of the region while giving space for the retreat’s deeper themes to integrate naturally.

In the evenings, the group reconvenes for workshops or guided experiences before dinner. These sessions often invite reflection, conversation, or embodied practice, while dinner becomes an informal space for connection and integration.

Throughout the retreat, facilitators remain available to support participants and help maintain a respectful, consent-centered environment.

A Supportive Container

Fruits of Freedom is intentionally held by a team that includes licensed mental health professionals, somatic facilitators, and experienced retreat guides.

This ensures the retreat is both exploratory and responsibly facilitated.

Daily small-group check-ins create consistent support throughout the week, allowing participants to reflect on their experiences and remain grounded as the retreat unfolds.

This structure helps ensure that participants are not navigating emotional or personal insights alone, but rather within a community that values care, respect, and personal sovereignty.

Community

The retreat brings together a group of queer adults who are curious about intimacy, embodiment, identity, and authentic connection.

Some participants attend alone, while others come with partners or friends. Many people arrive not knowing anyone else, which is why the retreat is designed to foster connection early through small groups and shared experiences.

Over the course of the week, the group often evolves from a collection of individuals into a temporary community built on honesty, mutual respect, and curiosity.

Cultural Experience

In addition to workshops and group experiences, several days include guided excursions that allow participants to engage with Colombian culture in meaningful ways.

These experiences might include activities such as local crafts, culinary traditions, or exploring the surrounding coastline.

The intention is not only to retreat inward, but also to appreciate the environment and culture that hosts the gathering.

Closing Ceremony

Toward the end of the retreat, the group participates in a closing ceremony designed to bring the week’s experiences into a moment of reflection and collective release.

This final gathering provides an opportunity to honor the connections formed during the retreat and carry the insights of the week forward into everyday life.

Participants depart the following morning with time to travel home at a comfortable pace.
