Litehouse Wellness was founded in 2017 to transform the lives of Black men, women and youth, using contemplative practices, preventative health education, birth work and mental health advocacy.

Sherri Doucette, Litehouse Wellness founder and executive director, recognizes that the adoption of restorative practices like Yoga, mindfulness, and revolutionary rest, can prove healing and create sustainable resistance against oppressive systems and institutions. To this end, Litehouse Wellness creates safer, courageous spaces for folks to heal, grow, and thrive. In recent years Litehouse Wellness expanded its work into mindful Social Emotional Literacy (SEL) support, helping hundreds of school age youth - PreK to 9th grade - across 3 school districts in southern Dallas County - to build emotional IQ, bolster school attendance, name emotions, and increase empathy and self-regulation.

Litehouse Wellness services include "The Dock" weekly group therapy for Black men, our mental health initiative that has reached over 300 men on 3 continents since 2023; SEL Yoga in schools; birth Doula services; community Yoga; Broga: Yoga for the Brothas, Higher Ground multi-day retreat for BIPOC men; and community care. All of which is provided in alignment with its ethos to eliminate health and wellness accessibility barriers for the historically marginalized.

Our team consists of a fully participating Board of Directors, skilled Yoga teachers, and a robust team of dedicated volunteers, including therapists, counselors, and creatives. Litehouse Wellness is a Black-woman led non-profit organization.
