As an artist, I've found artwork can be impactful and therapeutic for both those making and viewing it. I love to explore ways that painting can make a positive difference in the world, particularly in ways that impact women. This is why I'm proud to support the Aplomb Project, which empowers trauma survivors and underprivileged individuals through art and community.
The Aplomb Project is a 501(c)3 organization that uses the transformative power of art to uplift trauma survivors, promote creative healing, and present inclusive artistic opportunities. The aspect of Aplomb's work that resonates most deeply with me is the survivor portrait series painted by Danielle Festa. Aside from her sheer skill in painting realism, each one conveys resilience, radiance, strength and the spiritual energy of the portrayed survivor. Those who receive these portraits gain a renewed sense of self and feel the love of a supportive community. Simply put, their lives are changed.
I'll be painting some white coneflowers (Echinacea) for Aplomb this Giving Tuesday, as they symbolize strength and healing. The painting will be available for auction the following day.
EDIT Wednesday 11/29: Thank you everyone who donated to my campaign or to the cause as a whole! I was happy to get access to ALL COLORS by the end of the night and made a painting I'm proud of. See below:
