The Cristina Project: Ten Years of Impact

In 2012, we founded The Cristina Project to honor the legacy of our namesake, Cristina Garza, who we lost to ovarian cancer. Our mission was clear: to continue her spirit of helping others and make a tangible difference in the lives of those battling cancer and inspire the youth to give back to their communities.

This November marks a significant milestone as we celebrate 10 years of impactful work at our 10th Annual Art for the Cure event. This signature fundraiser brings together talented artists who transform wooden plates into stunning works of art, or generously donate existing pieces, all to be auctioned off. The proceeds directly fuel our multifaceted approach to fighting ovarian cancer: investing in cure-focused research, amplifying awareness campaigns, and providing essential patient care. This year, we're especially excited that funds raised from this special 10-year anniversary event will also significantly bolster the incredible community programs we champion.

As a small but mighty non-profit, our reach extends far beyond cancer support. We are deeply passionate about empowering the next generation, fostering in them a profound understanding of the importance of volunteering and giving back. Our "Give a Bag, Get a Bag" initiative, held annually on the first Saturday of Spring Break, perfectly embodies this commitment. We engage children in meaningful service projects, and in return, provide them with art supplies for their holiday break. Our young volunteers also play a crucial role in creating heartfelt get-well cards for our "TCP Cares" care packages, which bring comfort to individuals undergoing chemotherapy.

Beyond these initiatives, our dedication to community enrichment is evident in the diverse projects we undertake. We also support vital Back to School events, create joy at Kids Meals Halloween Bashes and during the Christmas holidays, we provide critical support by adopting families that need assistance. Furthermore, each year, we proudly award scholarships to deserving high school seniors, investing in their futures and empowering them to pursue their dreams.
