Project Sankofa is proud to participate in Black Philanthropy Month, a global celebration of Black giving and equity in funding. As we gear up for the upcoming academic year, the African American Scholars Project (AASP) needs your help in providing culturally relevant programming and resources to empower the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and change-makers. Our focus includes reaching students who face unique challenges due to geographic and community separation, ensuring that even those in the most racially isolated areas have access to the support they need.

Since 2016, our African American Scholars Project (AASP) has transformed the lives of over 600 high school students. An impressive 98% of our scholars reported a profound transformation, gaining a stronger sense of identity and self-understanding through our Black & workshop series and programming. Our commitment to fostering a thriving and supportive community has yielded remarkable results, with scholars feeling connected and nurtured, enhancing their growth and development.

But our work doesn’t stop there. We are also deeply committed to addressing the critical issue of how the disbursement of Black families across the state has led to the decentralization of our communities. Our focus on research and resourcing Black students in racially isolated communities is part of our broader mission. Over the next three years, we aim to build a robust pipeline of Black educators, ensuring that our students are seen, supported, and celebrated in academic spaces.
