United for CHAMPS, CHARITY & MOM: A Community CALL FOR ACTION

Title:
Help Danielle & Charity Stabilize Their Home and CHAMPS Resource & Service Center Community Work.

Story:
My name is Danielle Jackson,  and I’m writing to you with humility, faith, hope and love.

As a full-time, live-in, unpaid caregiver for my daughter, Charity—who has Down Syndrome—and the Founder of CHAMPS Resource & Service Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving families in Southeast Seattle, I’ve spent years pouring my heart into uplifting and sharing resources and services for others.

But recently, the weight of it all caught up with me.

After experiencing severe burnout and anxiety, I ended up in the ER three times in one month. I had no choice but to step back and take a mental and physical break. During this time, I couldn’t fulfill CHAMPS’ contractual service work—the same work that generates our nonprofit’s operating income and my personal income. Without that revenue, my savings quickly disappeared, and I had to take out a personal loan just to cover the basics.

A dear friend stepped in to help temporarily, but the financial strain has only deepened.

Now, both my household and the organization I’ve built with love and faith are at risk.

Charity and I can’t survive on her Social Security income alone. I’m supposed to be her caregiver, her advocate, support, and foundation. But right now, we’re struggling to stay afloat—both at home and through CHAMPS.

Despite these challenges, I’m slowly regaining strength and returning to the work that means so much to us. Our mission remains unchanged: to support families and communities that are facing poverty through access to housing and financial stability, public health and safety resources, and four major community events each year that inform, uplift, and connect our neighbors.

But we urgently need your help.

Your contribution will help us cover critical and immediate needs, including:

  • General operating funds for CHAMPS (this includes business expenses, my CHAMPS RSC Contractual Services and a Development Coordinator to help secure grants and future funding for CHAMPS)

This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. I’ve always been the one offering help—but now, I’m asking for yours.

Whether you can contribute financially or simply share this message with others, your support will make a real and lasting difference. Your generosity will stabilize our home and empower CHAMPS to continue its mission of service and impact in the community.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

With gratitude,
Danielle Jackson
