In the United States, car crashes remain a leading cause of death for teens, and each year we lose thousands of young lives to preventable collisions. According to NHTSA, there are over 6 million crashes annually resulting in approximately 45,000 deaths—10% of which are teenagers. The U.S., a country that once ranked #1 in Global Traffic Safety now ranks among the worst compared to other developed nations.

At the CADR Foundation, we believe it’s time to stop accepting these outcomes as inevitable. We're on a mission to redefine the qualifications and requirements for becoming a safe, responsible driver—starting with teens, but ultimately transforming how all Americans approach being behind the wheel.

Together with our sister organization, Teen Driving Solutions School, we’ve seen firsthand how comprehensive education combined with advanced, hands-on driver training can reduce risk and save lives. But we also understand that not every family can afford and/or attend an in-person training course. That’s why we’re building a comprehensive foundation- an online advanced education program for teens and parents, affordable and accessible from anywhere in the country.

This program entitled, Safely Navigating the Road Ahead, doesn’t just teach drivers how to operate a vehicle. It centers around the mental aspects of driving, the important of developing a growth or infinite mindset and teaches car-control theory and crash prevention principles - subjects that most driver’s education programs never touch. Even more importantly, it will equip parents with tools to reduce their anxiety and fears while riding with a teen on a driving permit, skills to become a better “coach” for their teenager and improve their own safe driving skills.

With your support, we’ll raise $25,000 to fund the course design, expert-led video content, platform development, and scholarships for families in need.

This initiative is just the beginning. Once the course is live, we’ll begin building a simulator-based program to offer an even deeper level of immersive training to take on the road in North Carolina and surrounding states.

We can’t afford to let outdated training and cultural complacency continue to cost lives.
