We still help with green cards and citizenship—but increasingly we are hearing from community members facing detention, removal, and the possibility of being permanently separated from their loved ones.

Why We Need Your Help Now

With Giving Tuesday less than a week away, I’m inviting you to help us grow our removal defense work—starting now. The need is rising faster than our current capacity, and families in our community are counting on us to be there when everything is on the line.

What Removal Defense Really Takes

Removal defense is some of the most time- and labor-intensive work we do. It means building a case from the ground up, conducting extensive legal research, gathering evidence, preparing clients and witnesses, and showing up again and again in a system that too often treats immigrants—especially Black, Brown, Muslim, and Arab immigrants—as expendable.

The stakes could not be higher: a single decision can determine whether a parent stays with their children or is sent thousands of miles away.

Your Support Makes the Difference

Because of your generosity, we’ve been able to say “yes” to people who could not otherwise afford an attorney—offering low bono and pro bono representation, helping families understand their rights, and intervening before a crisis becomes irreversible.

But today, the demand far exceeds our staffing. There are cases we have to refer out or can only advise on—even when we know how much hangs in the balance.
