TractorBeam, in partnership with the Chewelah Creative District, is kicking off the Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) workshop series with the is introduction to Canva, a free-to-use online graphic design tool.

Larah Ritchie is leading this hands-on, two-day mini-course on using Canva to design flyers, postcards, social media graphics, posters, presentations, event programs, and more.

Registration includes:

Both workshop sessions
30 days access to Canva Pro, courtesy of the Chewelah Creative District
Custom workshop templates
A Canva Shortcuts cheat sheet
An optional third class or work session

Session 1:

Learn to navigate the Canva dashboard
Understanding basic design principles
Customizing pre-built templates
Introduction to the design tools
- Working with text, images, and shapes
- Cropping and adjusting images
- Managing layers and visual alignment
- Using the element library & embedding QR codes

Session 2:

Time to work on your design, with support from Larah
Creating & sharing your own templates
Share, export & print your designs
Explore things you didn't know you could do with Canva
Learn how to get Canva Pro for FREE
- Canva for Nonprofits
- Canva Education

* Between sessions, you will create your own design

Optional Third Session (free):

If there's enough interest from the participants in the class, we can schedule a third session to learn about more advanced topics or practice the skills you've learned in class with personalized feedback & support. Topics could include:

Creating a Brand Kit with your logo & brand elements
Create templates and use collaboration tools and maintain visual consistency
Use Pro tools like Bulk Create, Magic Resize, Apps, and/or Content Planner

The class is BYOL (Bring your own laptop)*

A tablet will work if that's what you'll be using to access Canva after the class.

$60 - Registration Fee

$40 - For CCD Members & local non-profit leaders/volunteers

Minimum class size is 5.
- If we don't have 5, registration may be extended & class dates may change.
Maximum class size is 10.
- If we have more than 8, a second class will be added.
A receipt will be provided, so you can write off the class as a business expense.
- Consider asking your business or organization if they will cover the cost for you.
