Right now, capracare is on a mission to make this vision a reality in Haiti by focusing on a crucial initiative: constructing eco-latrines. The Urgent Need for Eco-Latrines

In Haiti, the lack of proper sanitation facilities is a significant challenge. Many families are forced to use inadequate and unsafe means for waste disposal, leading to a host of health issues. To combat this, capracare is dedicated to installing at least 32 eco-latrines over the next year. Each eco-latrine, costing approximately $1,000 USD, will be constructed with durable cement and concrete walls, steps, and a wood door, roof, and latrine seat. This initiative aims to provide a sanitary, private space for families currently lacking safe bathroom facilities.

Founded in February 2009, capracare invests in training, educating, and employing local leaders in responding to emergencies and healthcare needs. As a trusted community health resource for the area, capracare now serves a community of over 20,000 children, youth, and families living in the southern region of Haiti.
