Are we going to allow Qatar to fund our universities?
We are in the middle of one of the most important legal battles for Jewish civil rights in America today.
And the stakes could not be higher.
The Lawfare Project is currently litigating a landmark federal lawsuit against Carnegie Mellon University on behalf of a Jewish student who was subjected to antisemitic harassment and retaliation after reporting discrimination.
But this case has revealed something even more disturbing.
Nearly $1 billion in funding from the government of Qatar has flowed into Carnegie Mellon University.
Qatar is a foreign regime that openly supports and funds groups hostile to Israel and to American interests.
And now we are asking a question that universities desperately do not want answered in court:
Did foreign government funding influence how Carnegie Mellon handled antisemitism against a Jewish student?
A federal judge has already ruled that this question is legitimate.
The court has ordered Carnegie Mellon to turn over records related to its Qatari funding, rejecting the university’s attempt to hide these relationships from scrutiny.
What we have already uncovered is deeply troubling:
• A portion of the salary of CMU’s Assistant Vice Provost for DEI and Title IX Coordinator was funded by Qatar
• That same official discouraged the Jewish student from filing a formal antisemitism complaint
• Another senior administrator secretly recorded her without consent
• That official later invoked the Fifth Amendment during deposition questioning
Qatar and its allies have enormous resources.
Qatar is preparing to spend millions of dollars to fight cases like these and prevent these facts from fully coming to light.
We cannot allow that to happen.
This is about far more than one student.
It is about whether foreign governments hostile to Israel — and hostile to American values — will be allowed to quietly fund our universities while Jewish students are silenced and pushed out.
Right now we must raise $250,000 immediately to continue this fight.
This funding will allow us to continue discovery, review documents, take depositions, and expose the truth about foreign influence and antisemitism on American campuses.
If we stop now, the truth will never come out.
If we succeed, this case could establish a national precedent that changes how universities operate across the country.
Are we going to allow Qatar to fund our universities without accountability?
Or are we going to stop it?
We need your help — urgently.
Please consider making a generous contribution here today, and sharing with your friends and colleagues.
This is a defining moment in the fight for Jewish civil rights.
And we need all hands on deck.
