Help Carrborobotics Build the Future, One Robot at a Time!

Picture this: a packed arena, music blasting, crowds on their feet, and a robot built entirely by high school students roaring across the field to score in the final seconds of a match. That's FIRST Robotics Competition, and it is the most exciting thing you can do in high school. We're Carrborobotics, Carrboro's own FRC team, and we're gearing up for our biggest season yet!

Every January, FIRST reveals a brand-new game to teams all over the world, and the clock starts ticking. In just a few weeks, our students design, build, wire, and program a competition robot from scratch. We do the CAD modeling ourselves. We cut parts on our CNC machine and run the wiring. We write code that lets our robot see the field with vision cameras and drive itself. Then we take it to competition and go head-to-head with some of the best teams around. It's engineering, teamwork, and pure adrenaline all at once!

And last season? We went all the way. Carrborobotics competed at the North Carolina District Championship and earned a spot at the FIRST Championship, competing on the world stage against teams from across the globe. We got there because our community believed in us, and now we're ready to go even further.

But robots aren't the whole story. Carrborobotics is where students discover they can do hard things. Our team members learn machining, electrical work, programming, design, marketing, fundraising, and leadership. These are the skills that launch careers in engineering, science, and business. FRC students learn by doing, by failing, by fixing, and by trying again, and they walk away with confidence that lasts a lifetime.

Here's where you come in. A full season costs about $45,700. That covers registration, robot parts, tools, shop supplies, travel to competitions, and team shirts. Thanks to the Gene Haas Foundation and funds carried over from last year, we've secured $9,000. That means we need to raise about $36,700 to keep our team building, competing, and inspiring.

Every gift powers something real:

$25 keeps us stocked with wire, terminals, and the fasteners that hold our robot together.
$100 buys components for our drivetrain and mechanisms.
$500 puts a high-performance motor on our robot.
$4,000 sends us to the NC District Championship.
$6,000 covers our full season registration, including two district events.

Carrborobotics is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit (EIN 99-3450753), so your donation is tax-deductible. Businesses can also become team sponsors and get their name on our robot, shirts, and outreach. Please reach out to us about sponsorship!

Cheer us on. Help us build something incredible. Let's go, Carrborobotics!
