My sister and I are both breast cancer survivors. We’ve faced the battle, felt the fear, and come out stronger—and now, I ride for more than just myself. As an avid cyclist, I was introduced to Castaways Against Cancer through my son, Robert Ballestas, a proud Columbus High School alumnus. When I heard about this incredible fundraising ride, I knew I wanted to take part. I love a good challenge, but more than that, I’m passionate about supporting the fight to end cancer—for good. Riding with the Castaways means riding with purpose. It’s about honoring the journey my sister and I have been through, and helping fund the research and support that so many others need. Every mile I ride is for those still fighting, for those we’ve lost, and for a future without cancer.
